“Why don’t we have a baby shower for Vani?” I asked colleagues. We’d been working together a few months. This was her first.

“I don’t know anything about holding a baby shower. What do we need to do?” Seyn asked. Turns out neither of my cohorts had ever organized a shower before. One was single and the other was newlywed. Veteran me quickly laid out the plans. What happened next was a surprise.

Seyn set up a WhatsApp Group and invited the other two.  She laid out the plan, timeline, and responsible party. The group became a hub of activity. We posted and discussed décor, snacks, games, and guests. We celebrated progress. It made the planning so much easier and productive. That is, until the baby came before the shower.
