The tree was a sapling when I first noticed it growing in the space between the fence and the shed. “Umh, I have to uproot that tree and clean up that space.” Over the summer, I said the same thing every time I looked in the backyard. I even got so far as to weed around it and bag the grass clippings. But I didn’t pull the sapling.
Today, I looked over and it is a sturdy tree preparing for winter. It would take more strength than I have to uproot the tree. And if I never uproot it, it will grow big enough to shift the fence and the shed. Lesson? Deal with problems when they’re small, minor inconveniences. Do what needs to be done. Today.
