The Substance of Friendship

When folks start looking for witches and wizards causing trauma, enemies of progress, or frienemies; I say, take your racket elsewhere. I’ve got people who’ve got my back.
“I’m coming to town,” I say. I get home addresses and a free car.
You ask after our welfare with genuine interest and care. Thank you, Rev Vada, Mama G, Ngozi, my people!
You tamp down the path, so my walk is smoother, I appreciate you, Aunty J, Pastor Helen, Mummy Omolewa.
“I don’t know what I’m doing,” I moan. You show me how. Thanks, Dr. Yemi, Lamide, Wonu.
You help even before I know what’s needed. Thank you, Aunty J, Yemi.
“I can’t make this happen,” I hesitate. You tell me to stop whining and get on with it, right Leqy?
Those who’ve been with me forever and continue to love me. Thanks, Achenyo, Femi, Banke.
We met, we clicked, and stuck. Thank you, QueenBees.
And to you, who’ve got my back, thank you!
