What to do on a snowy day

The weather affects our mood. For many of us, this season is not our best. It’s too cold to go outside to soak in the slivers of Vitamin D that peak through the clouds. The cloudiness seeps into our souls and spirits and we begin to drag. Get the pep back in your step by engaging your senses:
1. Visualize color. Plan your summer wardrobe. Play dress up. Take out your faves from last year and think of different ways to mix and match. Paint pottery or canvas in vibrant colors to brighten up your space.
2. Listen to dance music. What sound makes your blood hum? Reggae, rhythm and blues, salsa, calypso, or afro juju? Let the music seep into you and take over your spirit, soul and body. Soon, you’d get up and bust a move.
3. Dance. While physical work and exercise also boosts endorphins, nothing makes you feel as good deep down as dance. Even your kidneys bounce when you dance.
4. Read lite lit or watch comedy. It’s easy to think crappy weather calls for watching a 3-hanky movie. Problem is, after watching the movie, the heaviness stays with you. And it becomes difficult to lift your spirits. Forget the hankies, serve up belly laughs instead.
5. Call friends and family. Bring up happy memories. Reminisce about shared experiences and plan new ones. And if you have the money and time, take a mini-vacay. The break in routine will do you a world of good.

(I talked about these strategies during my interview on 97.5 The Boss morning show).
